Out There Screaming: An Anthology of New Black Horror

Jordan Peele, the director of Get Out, Us, and Nope, has curated an anthology of new horror stories by Black writers. The stories explore both supernatural terrors and the chilling reality of injustice in America.

One story features a cop who sees huge, blinking eyes where the headlights of cars should be. Another story follows two freedom riders who are stranded on a lonely road in Alabama. And still another story follows a young girl who dives into the depths of the Earth to find the demon that killed her parents.

The anthology features stories by a diverse group of writers, including Erin E. Adams, Violet Allen, Lesley Nneka Arimah, Maurice Broaddus, Chesya Burke, P. Djèlí Clark, Ezra Claytan Daniels, Tananarive Due, Nalo Hopkinson, N. K. Jemisin, Justin C. Key, L. D. Lewis, Nnedi Okorafor, Tochi Onyebuchi, Rebecca Roanhorse, Nicole D. Sconiers, Rion Amilcar Scott, Terence Taylor, and Cadwell Turnbull.
